flowers of the anthropocene project ๐Ÿ“ blacks run, harrisonburg, vA

Blacks Run Stream is an eight-mile, heavily polluted waterway running through the city of Harrisonburg, Virginia. These flower formations are occurring through currents of water carrying bits of detritus. Taking cues from botanical renderings of generations past, I am clip the โ€œflowersโ€ and taking them back to my studio to photograph. They are given a name and have corresponding name cards. They carry qualities of beauty and abject, and are a direct artifact of humanโ€™s influence on natural systems.
